Here’s my boy Alec at the piano, live in competition to a crowd of 3500, Los Angeles, California, playing Chopin’s FIERY, RAGINGLY difficult “Revolutionary” Etude, 1994,

    AT THE AGE OF 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was the only one under 18 competing, their youngest ever. Applications for the first round were anonymous, and when he passed the first round and his info became public the judges were sure the dates had to be a typo. Ask me where he placed.

Sylvie (his mom) told me how pissed off she was when he walked out onto the stage with his shirt untucked and a shoelace untied. But that didn’t last long.

Best with headphones and sorry for the poor quality, but WHO CARES?! 10 YEARS OLD!!!!

I had to cut it out, but once the applause dies down you could hear one of the adult competitors say, “That’s one powerful kid! Can I rent his left hand?”

So proud. (posted by Alec’s bestfriend)

I have nothing to say. I’m so proud of you, Alec. I’m so proud. My tears are everywhere.
